Dr Steven Yakich was born and grew up in Auckland, New Zealand. He graduated from The University of Auckland’s School of Medicine with a Bachelor of Human Biology and Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery in 1993. He obtained a broad range of post graduate training experience to set him up for a career in Family Medicine. This has included extensive terms in General Medicine and Surgical Specialties, six months of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at National Women’s Hospital (Auckland), and more than a year in Psychiatry placements. He moved to Sydney in 1997 where he gained further experience in Paediatric Emergency (Westmead Children’s Hospital) and Palliative Care (St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney). He has also been working in community General Practice since 1999, initially in Caringbah where he took over the supervision of junior doctors training in the practice, and subsequently since 2007 at Miller Street Medical Practices. He gained Fellowship of The Royal College of General Practice in 2001 and has continued to enjoy working for his patients in a professional and caring manner.
